Meniscus Tear
A meniscus tear is a condition in which the menisci within the knee joint are damaged due to sports-related trauma or age-related degeneration.
How Is Meniscus Surgery Performed?
It is a minimally invasive procedure performed by entering the joint through two small incisions, using a camera and specialized surgical instruments.
What Are the Advantages of Meniscus Surgery?
Since it is a minimally invasive surgery, the patient can begin rehabilitation early. As there is no muscle incision, postoperative pain is minimal to none.
Postoperative Process After Meniscus Surgery
After meniscus repair surgery, the patient does not bear weight for 4 to 6 weeks. After the sixth week, the patient gradually starts weight-bearing and undergoes physical therapy for about 1 to 1.5 months. Sports activities can typically be resumed after the third month.

Frequently Asked Questions
The diagnosis of a meniscus tear is made through physical examination, the patient’s medical history, and imaging methods such as MRI. During the physical examination, the doctor evaluates the location and severity of the tear by moving the knee in different positions. MRI provides detailed imaging of the meniscus tear and helps identify other structural abnormalities.
